Reasoning on human emotions
During my master’s at Sorbonne University(2019/2020), I realized an internship of 5 months at the laboratory Intelligent Robotics Lab (IRLab) at the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Dr. Mohan Sridharan. We focused on analyzing people’s emotional states through facial expressions for reasoning and adjusting a social robot’s behaviors during this internship. More specifically, we wanted to adapt the method on the assistance of elderly by enabling a mobile robot to detect emotions and assist seniors during their daily routine. For example, we took the scenario of a mobile robot that can deliver specific items to a user according...

During my second Master’s degree in AI at Sorbonne University, I participated in a school project where we had to read a scientific article about AI methods used in robotics. Our task was to replicate the methods used in the article and compare our results with those presented in the paper. The article1 focused on using reinforcement learning methods, such as adaptive heuristic critique (AHC) learning architecture2 3 and Q-learning4, in a complex simulated environment. The simulated environment consisted of an agent, enemies, food, and obstacles, with the agent’s goal being to survive by using its sensors to avoid enemies...

During my master’s in ANDROIDE at Sorbonne University, one of my courses focused primarily on virtual and interactive environments. The most important part of the study was to build a project implying the development of a virtual environment using Unity 3D, which was able to interact and adapt to the user. In doing so, we decided with my colleague to develop an” escape-run game” where the player could control a character in a 3D environment using either a keyboard or a Kinect camera. The purpose was to allow the game to adapt its environment and difficulty to the player’s level....

During my final year at the graduate school of engineering Polytech Sorbonne, I carried out an internship of six months at Softbank Robotics Europe. This international company created the robots Pepper (https://www.softbankrobotics.com/emea/en/pepper) and Nao (https://www.softbankrobotics.com/emea/en/nao).
